E=MC….something, something, something.
When brewers list the IBUx of a beer, they are typically using mathematics formulas to determine the bitterness. Sometimes the math just doesn’t work out and more practical approach is necessary. For example, Buzz Lightbeer was brewed without boiling any hops, which is where bitterness in beer is primarily derived. The hops were all added well under boil temperature, but did result in a distinct bitterness.
